Dr. Shaffer has co-authored peer-reviewed journal articles, chapters in edited books, professional manuals, technical and government reports, and assessment tools and instruments for violence risk assessment, financial crime prevention, and offender management.

Her work has been cited over 650 times and featured in top peer-reviewed journals, including Law and Human Behavior, Psychology, Public Policy, and Law, Psychological Assessment, and Psychology of Violence. She is the author of two book chapters in the most recent edition of the Handbook of Violence Risk Assessment, a key resource recommended for professionals pursuing certification in threat assessment.
